Local mode
Indexing, text search and source selection take place on Mnemory’s infrastructure. The corpus of notes is not sent to an external AI provider for these operations.
External mode is optional
Depending on their configuration, users can choose OpenAI, Mistral or a private AI. They provide their own key and voluntarily activate this mode. Mnemory does not require it to view, search or export notes.
Transmission is prepared and confirmed
Before the external call, Mnemory prepares the question and the passages considered relevant. The user confirms transmission. The entire corpus is not sent by default. The chosen provider then processes the transmitted material according to its contract, location and data protection policy.
Personal key
The personal API key is encrypted at rest. It can be deleted at any time. Deleting it immediately disables external mode but does not delete data a provider may already have processed under its own terms.
The limits of a generated answer
An AI answer may be inaccurate, incomplete or misinterpret a source. Mnemory retains citations to make verification easier. Users remain responsible for reviewing the sources and making decisions.
